New Delhi, Jan 7: After yesterday's murder twist in Sunanda Pushkar case, the AIIMS forensic chief produces another shocker. Speaking to the media today, Dr Sudhir Gupta, who had claimed that the earlier reports of the Sunanda Pushkar death case were construed under pressure, said that he did not mention the word 'homicide' in his forensic report and had just said that the death was due to poison.

Incidentally, the debate origins in the fact that the police took one year to file a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 302 or murder, of the Indian Penal. Justifying the delay, the police said that the AIIMS had used the word 'homicidal' in its clarification report, submitted on December 29, 2014.

On questioning Dr Gupta about it, he denied saying,"That is for the police to decide. How can I say that? We have only said death was due to poisoning."

Sunanda Pushkar, wife of former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor, was found dead in her hotel room last year on Januray 17. The autopsy stated that the death was due to poisoning. However, there was no clarity as to whether that was a homicide or a suicide.

A report by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, however, ruled out traces of poison in her body.Nevertheless, AIIMS stuck to its conclusions and even named a few poisons to the police which could not be detected in the country.
