Who is Sundar Pichai, the new Google CEO?: Know all about him
As a part of a major overhaul in its restructuring, the search engine Giant Google on Monday, Aug 10, announced Indian-born Pichai Sundararajan, popularly known as Sundar Pichai, as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) while replacing the co-founder Larry Page, who will now head a new company called 'Alphabet'.
Let's know more about 43-year-old Pichai, who was till now serving as the senior vice-president at Google, and has now seen his meteoric rise, as the third CEO of the Google.
After working for 11 years with Google, Pichai knows that he is the man who knows how to push the boundaries of technology.
Personal Life:
Born in 1972, Pichai hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu and did his schooling from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School (PSBB), Nungambakkam.
Sundar is married to Anjali Pichai and the couple is blessed with two children: a daughter and a son. He lives in San Francisco, California.
Soft-spoken Pichai is a soccer fan. He was a captain in his school cricket team. He comes from an humble family background.
He has been described as a "skilled diplomat".
Education:
He pursued his graduation in Bachelor in Engineering from the Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT)-Kharagpur in Metallurgical Engineering.
He holds dual post-graduate degree, one an MS in Material Sciences and Engineering from Stanford University (in 1993) and MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Career:
Before joining Google in 2004, he worked with McKinsey & Company.

In Google, he led the product management and gave innovating ideas for Google Chrome, Chrome OS, Google Drive and helped in apps like Gmail and Google Maps.
In 2008, Google Chrome became one of the world's dominant browser, thus creating a niche for Pichai.
In 2013, Pichai added Android, Google's mobile-phone operating system, to the Google products he oversees.
In 2014, Pichai was promoted as Product Chief and became second-in-command with Larry Page.
Pichai, who is well-liked in Google, was described as the "most powerful man in mobile" and the "man behind Google's most important products". He excels at managing relationships.
