When 'MOMs' rock India: From Mars Orbiter to Heeraben, Modi has a lot to be proud of

India launches its very own space observatory today, another feather in the hat of Indian space agency ISRO that launched MOM a few months back in the first attempt.

It now joins a select club of US, Japan, Russia and European countries, who have their own space observatories. In fact, this is the first time that it is also launching a satellite for the US. Earlier it had launched satellites for Indonesia and Canada.

Although the ASTROSAT is 10 times smaller than NASA's Hubble observatory, it still is a breakthrough in the field of space science. The Narendra Modi government too will have its own share of accolades after the observatory mission.

While the MOM aims at studying the surface features of Mars, its morphology, minerology and the atmosphere, ASTROSAT will have a greater objective of understanding the high energy processes in binary star systems containing neutron stars and black holes.

It is also likely to estimate magnetic fields of neutron stars and study star birth regions and high energy processes in star systems lying beyond the Milky way galaxy. The mission also aims at detecting new briefly bright X-ray sources in the sky and performing a limited deep field survey of the Universe in the ultraviolet region.

While MOM is winning 'spaces', we cannot ignore the contribution of another mom who brought us the present PM of India-Narendra Modi. Modi's speech about his mother's contribution in his life at the Facebook HQ is viral. Probably the first time anyone encountered a country premier openly emotional about his mother. Modi was seen crying when the FB CEO Mark Zuckerburg asked him about his mother.

Heeraben

Hard works pays and that is what Narendra Modi exemplifies. While speaking of the hard work that his mother had put in in bringing him up, Modi explained how he sold tea and how his mother washed utensils in other people's houses to eke out a living.

Indeed, both the MOMs prove that it's the will that works and not just the vision.
