Japan’s restaurants are not doing justice to this sensitive bird, feel animal rights activists
Japan has seen a boom in the number of animal restaurants in recent years and especially those that keep owls as a symbol of luck and also to add to the 'cool factor'. But not all are happy with the idea, particularly the animal rights activists.
These two are no less cute than any human baby and the spectators are loving their action
Animal welfare groups have criticised the owl cafes in the far eastern country saying abuse of animals is not confined to the idea of mistreating them but also in the fact that they are being confined to small places. The activists are not okay with the fact that the nocturnal birds are made to act against their natural inclinations which disturb their sleeping cycles besides keeping them in chains when they are known to fly long distances at night. Exposing the birds with sensitive hearing and vision to noise and light is another reason why the animal rights groups are not okay with it.
The owners of the owl restaurants are of the opinion that they are aware of the birds' comfort levels and doing the best to allow them leave a stress-free life.
