Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his ambitious 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana' (Parliamentarian's Model Village Scheme) which is aimed to ensure holistic development of identified gram panchayats.

Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana is yet another ambitious development scheme which is aimed at improving the standard of living and quality of life of all sections of the society by improving basic amenities in rural parts of the country.

The prime objectives behind launch of this ambitious scheme is to initiate a process of holistic development of the identified gram panchayats and to improve the standard of living and quality of life of all sections of the society.

The main thrust has to be given on basic amenities, higher productivity and enhanced human development.

According to the scheme, each MP will adopt a village every year for all-round development. The MPs will work for the development of these villages using the programmes of the Centre and States and their constituency development funds ( MPLADS).

Prime Minister Modi will also select few villages for himself and as per reports, he will adopt Kakrahia village of Uttar Pradesh which is located at a distance of 20 kilometres from Varanasi. After listening to this news, residents of the village are so excited that they have started preparing for Narendra Modi's visit to the village. This village will be visited by the Prime Minister on October 14 after inaugurating the BHU trauma centre.

Anticipating adoption of their village, people are enthusiastically cleaning up the village and preparing the village for Modi's welcome.

A village with population of over 3000 people, reportedly still depends on agriculture for their bread and butter and has bleak situations prevailing in the locale.

With such news falling in their ears they have become hopeful that soon their village will have better facilities and better conditions to live and it will soon become a model village not just through infrastructure development but with also gender equality, dignity of women, social justice, community service, cleanliness etc.

Political connotations from Narendra Modi adopting this village

Political gallery is abuzz after this news came to light. Talks in the political corridors say that by adopting this village, Prime Minister Modi wants to cement his party's lost grounds in the Rohaniya assembly constituency. Notably, the Rohaniya seat, was vacated by BJP's ally Apna Dal and slipped into Samajwadi Party's hands in the recently concluded by-polls. By choosing Kakrahia village, the PM wants to redeem grounds the party lost in these elections.

Politicos are also saying that with adoption of this village by Modi, vote base of BJP might get strengthened. It might also lead to corrosion of Samajwadi Party's vote base which might get shifted to BJP who could not make a space for themselves in the recent elections.

First visit to Varanasi after becoming PM

Ever since his swearing in as Prime Minister, the Varanasi MP has not been able to visit his constituency and this will be his first visit after becoming Prime Minister of India.

Modi is also expected to visit Dashashwamedh Ghat in Kashi where he will initiate the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan in Kashi by cleaning the Ghat and is also expected to attend the Ganga Aarti.

With his maiden visit to Varanasi after becoming the Prime Minister, people are having high hopes and are expecting a lot many things from Narendra Modi.
