Pics: Vallabhbhai's 'Statue of Unity' and world's tallest statues
Bangalore, Oct 31: On the 138th birth anniversary of the "Iron Man of India", Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the Gujarat Chief Minister and the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of his dream project- to erect world's tallest statue of the great leader, who united the nation.
On the occasion of Patel's birth anniversary, the BJP's veteran leader L K Advani was also present as the chief guest, where he launched a book "Hind Ke Sardar".
Patel's statue with the height of 182 metres, will be erected on an island called 'Sadhu Pet' in the middle of the Narmada river, near Bharuch in Gujarat, on an expenditure of Rs 2074 crore. The statue work will be completed in four years.
Iron and concrete cemnet will be used to built the tall statue and then, its outer surface will be coated by bronze, to give it a shining lustre.
To built this statue, the iron will be collected from the farmers from all parts of India. From each and every village, a part of iron will be collected, whose weight will not be more than 1 kg, so that it won't be burden on farmers as well as it will also symbolise their unity and will be a collective tribute to Patel.
A team of BJP workers will commence the task of collecting iron tools from farmers.
The hard work pout by farmers will also be immortalized when that iron will be used in Patel's statue.
The iron that will collected from the nation, then, it will be melted to built the statue.
Some of the agricultural iron will be utilised to built a boundary and other structures around the statue, in an artistic manner. If there will be any scarcity of iron during construction work, then it will be procured from the the Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL).

Sardar
Sarovar
Dam
at
Kevadia.
As
part
of
the
Sardar
Sarovar
Nigam
project,
a
400
feet
long
observation
deck
will
be
constructed,
where
200
people
would
be
able
to
view
the
spectacular
statue.
Apart from having a panoramic view of the Statue of Unity, the visitors will be able to see the beautiful Satpuda and Vindhyachal mountain ranges, the 256 kms long Sardar Sarovar Reservoir and the 12kms long Garudeshwar Reservoir.
