New Delhi, July 20: As the whole world is celebrating the 100th birth anniversary of former South African president, anti-apartheid revolutionary and Nobel Laureate Nelson Mandela, Indian beauty queen Manushi Chhillar has brought hope in the lives of millions of South African women.

Manushi is also working on a project to provide environmental friendly sanitary napkins to women.

Taking to Twitter, Manushi wrote, "It was such an honour to meet his excellency, President @CyrilRamaphosa and inaugurate South Africa's first 100% compostable and low cost sanitary pad manufacturing unit in Mvezo, the birthplace of #NelsonMandela."

The 2017 Miss World also wished Mandela on his birthday. "The sunrise of his birth centenary! Happy birthday Madiba. You will always live within us #NelsonMandela #NelsonMandela100," tweeted Manushi.

Recently, we saw in India how a positive conversation has started surrounding the taboo subject of menstrual hygiene. Thanks to the Bollywood film, Padman, people are not only talking about menstrual hygiene but many do-gooders are ensuring that poor women in the country get access to safe and affordable sanitary products.
