MH 17 tragedy could escalate further Russia-Ukraine tensions
Apparently both Russia and Ukraine have these sophisticated weapons. Post flight MH 17 was shot down by pro-Russian insurgents, the blame game between the two countries have continued. The rebels have certainly blamed their enemy nations for the tragedy.
The Ukraine Government led by President Petro Poroshenko have accused pro-Russia militants, aided by the Russian military intelligence officer for acting as disruptive force in the region. Russia on the other hand have pointed on Ukraine of being unable to control its own airspace.
"The external aggression against Ukraine is not just our problem but a threat to European and global security," Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said in a statement.
Deteriorating Russia-US relations
Relations between Russia and US have plummeted to the worst ever since the end of cold war. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine can further deteriorate its relation with the west.
The MH 17 crash only shows how the lives are at risk of the civilians due to the Crimean crisis. The poor relations between two big super powers not only began with the Ukraine crisis but can be traced back to NATO's intervention in Libya in 2011.
If NATO which is the military wing of United States and European Union intervenes in Ukraine, relations between Russia and the west will sink to the lowest level.
