New Delhi, Jan 13: With activist Medha Patkar announcing her support for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Arvind Kejriwal, the celebrity support list of the party is growing by the day. From Bollywood celebrities to activists, everyone seems to join the fray in giving people their rights.

A sneak peak at the who's who joining or supporting the party may indicate the growing popularity of the party in the country to the extent of challenging the veteran powers of Congress and BJP.

AAP's 'celebrated' support

First, it was the support of Raghu-Rajeev of the 'Roadies' fame who came to limelight, after they sparked a controversy with the usage of slang during a party campaign.

Sufi singer Rabbi Shergill of Bulla-Ki-Jaana fame also expressed his support for the party and its agendas. It is believed that his support could help swing the votes of the Punjabis and the Sikh communities to the party before the elections.

We had approached Shergill and he agreed to support us as he supported the ‘good cause' that we have taken up," said Sanjay Singh, who is a member of AAP's national executive.

Then came Kailash Kher, a renowned singer-composer, who had done a song for the party, which they used ahead of the assembly elections.

Aamir Khan's support for the party and its agendas came after the results of the Assembly elections where the AAP swept away majority of the votes from both BJP and Congress. Just a few day's back, we got news of music composer Remo Fernandes, joining the fray too in Goa.

Apart from Bollywood celebrities, AAP managed to draw the attention of industrialists and media stalwarts. First was Ashutosh, a chief editor from IBN7, who is reported to have left his job to join the party.

V Balakrishnan, former Infosys executive; Meera Sanyal, the former chairman of Royal Bank of Scotland; Adarsh Shastri, the grandson of former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri; activist Oscar Rebello; and Captain Gopinath, the pioneer of a low-cost airline are some of the other celebrated members of the AAP.
