International Left Handers Day: Some interesting facts
When most of the people in the world work with their right hands, in a predominantly 'right handed' world, August 13 is annually observed as the day for "left-handed" people, since 1976.
The day is observed for its uniqueness and difficulties that the left-handed people face while working amidst right-handed people. The Left-Handers Day was declared by the left hander's club on Aug 13, 1996.
The Left-Handers Day is celebrated worldwide, with major events involving creativity, athletics as well as adaptability that help them in competing with the right-handed people all around.
Left handers are considered to be competitive. Many famous left-handed people are successfully ruling many hearts, with their skills in their respective fields.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the god of cricket Sachin Tendulkar, the industrial tycoon Ratan Tata and Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan are some famous left handers in India, who have not only competed with the world, but are one of the best examples among world's 'lefties'.
The day is celebrated to make public aware about the advantages and disadvantages, faced by the left-handed people, on day-to-day basis.
Not many are aware about the fact that there is an official website called Left-Handers Day for lefties!
Left Handers celebrate their day in many ways, that includes Left-versus-Right handed match, left-handed tea party and play pub games.
The sporting power of left handers to compete with the right-handed people is recognised on this day.

According to a study- 'The history and geography of human-handedness'- by I.C MacManus (who is a renowned psychologist) states that nearly about 90% people are right-handed with 10% rest are left-handed.
His estimation shows that since past 200,000 years or so, about 8% to 10% of the population is left-handed.
