In Pics: Indian Politicians caught sleeping in Parliament

As the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi took a catnap during the price rise debate in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, he drew huge criticism from all the opposition parties and became a centre of attention on all social media websites.

The embarrassed Congress had to defiantly gave bytes to media in an attempt to save Rahul from the bitter bites of the opposition parties.

Interestingly, Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi is not the only one who dozed off briefly in Parliament. There are many other seasoned politicians, who have taken a nap during parliamentary proceedings, given their hectic schedules.

Here is a look back at all those "sleep-deprived" and yawning politicos who slept, ignoring the 'wary' camera, who caught them live while they were catching on some sleep:

Dr Manmohan Singh

Former prime minister and the economist Dr Manmohan Singh reportedly took a brief nap last year on February 28, when the Finance budget was being passed.

Pranab Mukherjee

President Pranab Mukherjee could also not resist himself from taking a short catnap in the Lok Sabha, ignoring the intruding cameras!

M Veerappa Moily

Former petroleum and natural gas minister, M Veerappa Moily was also caught taking a nap when the former finance minister P Chidambaram was speaking in the Lok Sabha.

Pawan Kumar Bansal

During one of the sessions, when President Pranab Mukherjee was speaking, then the former railway minister and former Chandigarh MP Pawan Kumar Bansal was caught sleeping.

Rajeev Shukla

IPL chief and the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Rajeev Shukla also had a distraction from the proceedings and chose to catch on some sleep, when Pranab Mukherjee was speaking.

Kamal Nath

Former Parliamentary affairs minister Kamal Nath has also been caught yawning and rubbing his eyes when the boring speeches are going on in the Lok Sabha.

Lalu Prasad Yadav

The rare politician who is publicly known for his sense of humuor, has also many times took a catnap in the Lok Sabha. In September 2011, the former LS Speaker Meira Kumar had to give order to wake him up, even though he was sitting in the first row!

Mulayam Singh Yadav

The veteran politician and the Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav aka Netaji has also been caught live on camera while sleeping.

H D Deve Gowda

Former prime minister and former chief minister of Karnataka H D Deve Gowda has been many times in news for his sleepy habits inside the Vidhan Soudha.

Virbhadra Singh

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh is also known to have slept on various occasions inside the state assembly sessions.
