The founder and chairman of the Sahara India Pariwar, Subrata Roy has come a long way in his life- from being a business tycoon to a victim of "black ink" attack on his face.

65-year-old Roy was on Tuesday produced before the Supreme Court where he assured that his group will refund ramining money of the investors in two months time.

The SC also pulled him up for contempt of court and said, "We respected you but you failed to respect us."

Sahara Group boss Subrata Roy owns the property worth Rs 682 millions and his business is spread across the globe.

He is also the proud owner of New York's Plaza Hotel and London's Grosvenor House.

Besides being sponsors of the Indian Hockey team, the Sahara Group also has partnership in Formula One Team named "Force India".

Sahara India is one of the biggest private sector employer, with more than 1.1 million employees.

Born to Sudhir Chandra Roy and Srimati Chhabi Roy on June 10, 1948 in Bihar's Araria district, Roy had no interest in studies since earlier days. He did his schooling from Kolkata.

The order to arrest Roy was issued on February 26 for his failure to appear before the apex court in a contempt case arising out of non refund of Rs 20,000 crore to investors by two of his companies.

Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev also expressed concern over the arrest of Sahara Group chief Subrata Roy and hoped that an "extremely patriotic person" like him will come out of this situation soon.

"I have known him as an extremely patriotic man who has done so much for the country. I wish that he comes out of this situation soon," Kapil said in a letter addressed to the media.
