New Delhi, Sept 21: Physical disability can shatter the confidence of any person. If a person meets with an accident and has to undergo surgery in which a part of his/her body is amputated, then, it can lead to darkness in that person's life.

Here, we are talking about the brave girl, 26-year-old Arunima Sinha, who lost her left leg in an unfortunate incident on April 11, 2011, but despite the fact that she lost a leg, she did not gave up the spirit of her life and defied all conceivable odds.

Infact, Arunima decided to convert her weakness into her biggest strength and by her true determination, on May 21, 2013, she achieved the rare feat to become the first Indian amputee to conquer the Mount Everest, with the help of a prosthetic leg. Besides, setting an example to the world, Arunima also made India, a proud nation when she hoisted the Indian tricolour flag at the peak of the Mount Everest.

A former national level volleyball player and football player, she lost her left leg when she was thrown off a moving train by some hoodlums two years ago.

Born in Lucknow's Ambedkar Nagar area, in Uttar Pradesh, Arunima, unlike others did not take much time to recover from the mental trauma of being a handicap, as after an year of the train tragedy, she successfully qualified for the post of a Head Constable in the CISF in 2012.

Arunima also gives credit behind her inspiration and optimism to the famous cricketer Yuvraj Singh who won the battle for life after recuperating from fatal-disease cancer.

After undergoing four-month treatment at Delhi's AIIMS hospital, Arunima took the challenging voyage of her life and took training from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi.

In 2011, to achieve a successfull stint as a mountaineer, Arunima took training under Bachendri Pal, the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everest.

After 52 days of hard toiling, Arunima finally, accomplished her desire to reach at the summit of the Mount Everest and at the same time, she created a history. Arunima, also became an inspiration to those who have suffered from such tragic incidents.

The brave Arunima did not even feel afraid when the oxygen cylinder, that she was carrying while climbing the Mt. Everest, ended midway. She said that despite several calls from her family members, who wanted her to return, she decided to reach at the zenith of the peak!

In a message to the youth, Arunima said that whatever difficult situations, come in your life, you should never divert your attention from your goal. Arunima also said that even after getting divorce, her mother and her elder sister gave her full support and she successfully achieved her ambition.

After reaching at the top of the world, Arunima said, "When I reached the summit, I felt like screaming at the top of my voice. I wanted to tell the world: here I am. I have saved that moment inside me"

Arunima also said that she decided to challenge herself with the toughest sport. And she chased her dream with passion.
