Four NDFB(S) cadres chargesheeted for killing tribals in Assam
The Guwahati branch of the National Investigation Agency has chargesheeted four operatives of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) in connection with the case of killing members of the Adivasi community at Kokrajhar, Assam. In the incident that took place on December 23 2014 12 persons were killed.
The chargesheeted are Swmkwr Basumatary, Rabi Basumatary, Lawithw Brahma and Willbe Rabha. The NIA relied on field investigation as well as technical and forensic evidences to establish the crime. The NIA has submitted to the court for continuing further investigation of the case u/s 173(8) CrPC, as some more co- accused in crime are yet to be apprehended.
Arrests
Three cadres of the dreaded NDFB(S) have been arrested by the National Investigation Agency for their role in the killing of 12 villagers at Kokrajhar, Assam on December 2014. The three persons to be arrested are Armish Basumatary, Lothen Basumatary and Gangaraj Wary.
Meanwhile the NIA has arrested one hard-core militant, Neyton Nokbi, resident of Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, for his involvement in the terrorist attack by a group of NSCN cadres. He was part of the group that fired at the Indian Army personnel on April 2 2015 in which three of them died.
Neyton Nokbi is a self-styled Sergeant of the National Council of Nagalim (Issac Muivah faction) in short NSCN (IM). The accused was produced before the Special NIA Court, Arunachal Pradesh at Yupia and has been remanded to police custody of NIA for 7 days.
