A breakthrough development was also announced about resumption of structured dialogue between India and Pakistan when External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj visited Pakistan in December last year to attend "Heart of Asia" conference.

"We have decided to restart the Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue (CBD). The dialogue that was earlier known as Composite Dialogue and later on known as Resumed Dialogue will now be known as the Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue," Sushma Swaraj was quoted as saying.

According to analysts, CBD announced in December in not likely to take place in this kind of hostile situation. Meeting between foreign secretaries of both the countries is not appearing to become a reality in near future.

Apart from all these there are many reasons that can be proved as setback for the dialogue between two nations. Some of them are mentioned here..

India expressed its disappointment over US Congress's decision to sell F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan.

"We are disappointed at the decision of the Obama Administration to notify the sale of F-16 aircrafts to Pakistan," said a statement issued by the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup.

The Obama administration on last week notified the US Congress of its decision to sell eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan worth nearly USD 700 million, notwithstanding American lawmakers' demand for stopping the proposed sale.

Pakistan's former military ruler Pervez Musharraf recently confessed that ISI trains LeT and Jaish militants and terror attacks in India will not stop until New Delhi addresses the "core" issue of Kashmir.

Revelations by David Headley in connection with Mumbai terror attacks also unfolds the role of ISI officials and Pakistan agencies in the attack that claimed lives of more than 160 people in 2008.

And the latest is Pakistan's failure on action against those responsible for the attack on Pathankot air base on January 2, 2016. Seven Indian soldiers were martyred and six terrorists were killed in the pre-dawn attack.

India has blamed JeM for the attack on the airbase but Pakistan has yet to confirm any action against its chief Maulana Masood Azhar.

Maulana Masood Azhar and two other terrorists were released from an Indian prison in 1999 in exchange for release of 155 passengers of an Indian Airlines plane to Taliban-controlled Kandahar.

All these developments seem to derail the peace talks between India and Pakistan.
