Uttarakhand: 2 dead, 5 trapped in landslide in Chamoli district
Dehradun, July 20: The landslide that occurred due to cloudburst near Chamoli's Malari claimed two lives on Friday. Both the bodies have been recovered. Five persons feared trapped in a landslide that occurred between Jumma and Bhapkund near Malari road.
The Badrinath highway was closed due to landslide at Lambagad since last night while yatra to Hemkund Sahib going uninterrupted.
Houses and vehicles have been damaged due to cloudburst in Chamoli district's Tharali area on Monday. Police and local administration arrived in Ghat's Kundi village, where houses and vehicles were damaged. No casualties were reported.
Last week, seven people were killed and two injured in a cloudburst that washed away parts of Dehradun.
A family of four was killed when their house in Shastri Nagar in Vasant Vihar area collapsed in heavy rain that followed the cloudburst. Two others were injured in the same incident. Three others drowned in Charba, Balbir Road, and Bhagat Singh Colony areas.
