Chennai: More shocking revelation in TCS techie murder case

Chennai, Feb 27: Crime Branch-CID (CB-CID) Tamil Nadu Police arrested another accused from West Bengal in connection with the TCS techie murder case in Chennai. Police sources informed that they received more shocking information after nabbing the accused who earlier had fled from the city.

The accused, third person arrested in the case, was travelling on a train to West Bengal when police nabbed him. A CB-CID official on Feb 26 was quoted as saying, "Ujjal Mandal hailing from Malda District [West Bengal] in his twenties was arrested early morning today. He was arrested near Kolkata in a train."

Asked if the accused was being brought into the city, he said it would be decided after obtaining a transit remand from a local court. On the basis of information revealed by two already arrested, the CB-CID deputed a team to West Bengal to nab Ujjal Mandal, he said.

The third, must be in his 20s, was arrested while travelling in a moving train

24-year-old Uttam Mandal and 21-year-old Ram Mandal of Malda district in West Bengal were arrested three days after the decomposed body of a 24-year old employee of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was found at the SPICOT IT Park in Siruseri near Chennai.

The state government transferred the case to CB-CID wing which had announced Rs. two lakh reward to those who provide information on the killers of the woman.

Speaking about the accused, one police official informed that they were staying in Chennai since past eight months. Holding a press conference, officials informed that the victim had come out of her office at 10:15 pm.

A group of migrant workers including the arrested accused persons were present there and had had followed and dragged her into a nearby bush and sexually assaulted her. They then murdered her by stabbing her. They also robbed her and took away her mobile phone and credit cards which they had tried to use later. According to sources, there were many labourers but police did not divulge the exact number.
