The incident happened on Sunday (July 29) when thousands of DMK workers assembled outside the city's Kauvery Hospital where party patriarch and former chief minister of the state M Karunanidhi is undergoing treatment. It was one such group of DMK supporters went to the eatery, located 10 kilometres from the hospital at Virugambakkam where they sought food. But when the restaurant staff members refused to serve them food, saying the kitchen was shut, they were attacked by the party workers.
