Gang of youngsters assaults three college students
Chennai, Dec 3: Three students were brutally assaulted by a gang of youngsters in Chennai, reported The New Indian Express.

About 50 students allegedly belonging to Presidency College dragged out three students of Pachaiyappa's College from a bus and thrashed them at new Mint bus stop on Monday.

The three students, all hailing from Ennore area, were returning from college by bus (route number 159E), when a mob stopped the bus at new Mint bus stop and pulled the youngsters out of the bus.

According to eyewitnesses, the mob entered the bus and asked the youngsters which college they belonged to. When three students said they were of Pachaiyappa's College, they were pulled out and brutally assaulted.

The assaukt went on for about 10 minutes, said eyewitnesses. "One of the assaulters was wounded two students with a knife," said inspector K Devaraj.

After the incident, the mob boarded another bus and escaped from the spot. Eyewitnesses said they couldn't help the three students as the mob was very aggressive.

The assaulted students were imediately taken to Stanley Government Hospital.

"One of the students suffered cut injuries on the head and another on the hand. However, both are out of danger. We have informed their parents," said a police officer.

The injured were identified as Rajiv, a third-year BCom student, Mohan Raj of second-year BA Philosophy, and Prabhakaran of third-year BA Philosophy. The motive of the attack was not known yet.

"We have registered a case and are looking out for the students responsible for the attack," said a police officer.
