Murugan's wife M Lokeshini, who is a school teacher, had allegedly conspired with her boyfriend Shanmuganathan to kill her husband.

Shanmuganathan runs a printing press and is a resident of Puzhal in Chennai. The police had arrested Lokeshini on Monday along with three goons-- Mani, Subramani and Murali, whom she had hired in Rs 2 lakh from Vyasarpadi to execute the plan.

According to police investigation, Lokeshini and Shanmuganathan knew each other since their school days and they were in a relationship when they were in Class 11th.

Two years ago, both of them met again and rekindled their relationship. Despite being married, Shanmuganathan lied to Lokeshini and convinced her that he was a bachelor.

When Murugan came to know about their illicit relationship, the couple had a heated argument on Sunday. Murugan and Lokeshini had two children and the couple was living in Choolaimedu.

Call records nailed the accused

In a major evidence of their involvement in Murugan's murder, police recovered an audio tape in which both Lokeshini and Shanmuganathan can be heard discussing about his murder.

Four special teams of police were formed to crack the sensational murder case.
