AIADMK demands Bharat Ratna for Jayalalithaa
The cabinet meet, chaired by Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, also passed resolution rename M G Ramachandran memorial in Marina beach
The Tamil Nadu cabinet on Saturday passed a resolution to demand the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, for the late J Jayalalithaa. The resolution also demands that a statue of hers be installed in the parliament.

The cabinet meet, chaired by Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, also passed resolution rename M G Ramachandran memorial in Marina beach to Dr MGR and Puratchi Talaivi Selvi Jayalalithaa memorial.
The cabinet has decided to set aside Rs 15 crore to be spent on a memorial for J Jayalalithaa. All decisions were taken at the first cabinet meet post Jayalalithaa's demise. The cabinet paid tributes to the deceased leader and observed a minute's silence on Saturday.
