Around 9 girls were arrested on Thursday under section 151 (arrest to prevent commission of cognisable offences), for protesting against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over demand of height relaxation in police constable recruitment exams, alleged that the police at Central Jail misbehaved with them.

Girls who accused police of misbehaving speaking to ANI said,''They (police) took our pregnancy test, male constables even peeped inside changing rooms. We were made to sit with prisoners arrested for murder. CM himself had promised relaxation in height criteria (currently 158 cm), what's our crime?.''

Her allegation was, however, refuted by Central Jail superintendent Dinesh Nargawe who said that the women were made to undergo a urine test, including for pregnancy, as stipulated by the prison manual.

He denied that the women were made to take the test in front of men.

"In October, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced that he would relax the height criteria for women police aspirants by two centimetres," the 26-year-old woman said.

Meanwhile, the opposition Congress spokesperson Narendra Saluja hit out at the state government.

Taking to Twitter, he said,"What can be more shameful that the nieces (women) who had gone to meet their Mama, (maternal uncle, a reference to Chouhan) in the darkness of night against rules were sent to jail. After their release today these spinsters nieces have alleged that they underwent pregnancy test in front of the men. Shameful."
