Question paper leaked- Has Karnataka's tuition mafia raised its ugly head again?

If one needs to get to the bottom of the case relating to question paper leak in Karnataka, then a probe into the tuition mafia needs to be conducted.

For a question paper to be leaked twice in a week there is something more than what meets the eye.

There are some questions that need to be raised in this regard.

Tuitions are a big business and in order to be the best in the business, competitors could go to any length. The best way to prove that you are better than the others is to have the question paper well in advance.

The tuition mafia:

In the year 2012, there were similar occurrences in the state of Karnataka. An investigation had been launched after question papers had been leaked.

The clear role of a tuition mafia had been established and it had been found. It was found that some persons who were giving tuitions had managed to get in touch with officials in the board and have the question papers well in advance.

There have also been cases where lecturers of colleges who also give private tuitions are part of the team which prepares the question paper. However, an officer said that the problem is highest with the tuition mafia.

In the case of the leaking of the Chemistry paper twice in a week, the role of the tuition mafia has once again come to forefront.

It is a subject matter of investigation and only a professional agency can undertake the same. However, some officials point out that the clout of this mafia is very strong and not always investigations have reached the logical end.

It is an ongoing problem and while in some cases it comes to light that a question paper has been leaked in other cases it goes unnoticed.

Some of the solutions that have been offered to curb this menace is transferring board officials regularly. The problem begins when there is an official who serves for a long period of time.

Familiar faces in the board especially those handling question papers are a bane on the system as they get too familiar with the system.
