Media gag in Vidhana Soudha: Kumaraswamy says scribes can't be allowed to roam 'everywhere'
Bengaluru, July 24: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has decided to restrict the movement on media personnel in Vidhana Soudha. He said media personnel cannot be allowed to roam around everywhere as some "ask inappropriate questions" without proper information.
Kumaraswamy had before the elections said that he would open the corridors of power to all people in the state without any security inhibitions.
"Mediapersons are roaming everywhere, each one coming at a different time which is troubling everyone. Therefore, I have asked to give a dedicated spot for the media where they will receive all information," said the Chief Minister.
"We will make proper arrangements (for media) inside Vidhana Soudha. As some of you come and ask inappropriate questions without information, that's why good arrangements will be made for media and you can seek information from officers there itself," he added.
The BJP hit out at the CM and asked why Kumaraswamy was scared of the media.
The media persons came to know about it only today when they were entering assembly premises. They were stopped by the police and reportedly told that they had been given oral instructions to not let the former in.
