On Saturday, July 4, at around 3.30 pm, a forest van driver managed to click some images of the carnivore, near the rescue centre at Mulegundekere and Siggekatte (where captive elephants are housed), while putting speculations on rest. It is said that the wild tiger is in BBP since last six months, but it was spotted only on Saturday.

Park authorities believe that the tiger may have come from the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary (CWS), in search of a new territory, however, experts are of the view that tiger may have come from the forests of Tamil Nadu.

Authorities are mulling to form a team to capture the wild cat, so that it does not impose a risk on the lives of nearby residents. [20 wild cats died in Bannerghatta park in last 15 months]

Some officials of the BBP also warned that there may be more such wild tigers on the loose in the park. They are planning to install camera traps at the strategic locations of the park.

Fearing man-animal conflict, BBP guards have been told to be extra cautious, so as to avoid any mishap. Shockingly, there is no buffer zone in the BBP. [Bangalore: Missing techie found dead in National Park]
