Bengaluru girl Nilanjanaa Jayant to perform at Carnegie Hall in October
Bengaluru, April 27: Nilanjanaa Jayant, a 12-year-old girl is all set to make Bengaluru a proud city, as she is going to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York.
In October 2016, budding singing sensation will join the dais with legendary musicians like Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Ustad Zakir Hussain.
In March, Nilanjanaa had sent her name for the Golden Voices of America Competition 2016, on her mother's insistence. Then, she sent a video clipping of her performing Frank Sinatra's popular jazz number Fly me to the Moon.
A month later, she was declared winner in the Musical Theater/Disney/Broadway/Jazz category.
While talking to a leading daily, Nilanjanaa's mother Sangeeta Ananth said that they made her to join Carnatic music classes, when she was just 6-year-old.
Then, she joined Bengaluru-based music school Taaqademy, founded by musicians Rajeev Rajagopal and Bruce Lee Mani.
Taaqademy, in an official statement on Facebook said, "We are extremely happy to announce that our student Nilanjanaa Jayant has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall New York after winning 1st Place at American Fine Arts Festival / AFAF Golden Voice of America, 2016. Her wonderful tutor Ragini Ramanathan will also be awarded a Diploma of Recognition for the same. In addition to this Nilanjanaa also gets a prestigious scholarship for the AFAF Summer Music Courses in Europe for 2017. Proud moment for all of us at taaqademy."
Elated 25-year-old Ragini also showered praises on Nilanjanaa and said that she is determined and hardworking, who does not give up.
Nilanjanaa is the only daughter of Mr Jayant Ananthkrishnan and Sangeeta Ananth and is a resident of JP Nagar in south Bengaluru. She is a student of Class 8th at The Samhita Academy, Bannerghatta Road.
