Bengaluru cop nabs thief in filmy style, gets honeymoon as reward
Bengaluru, July 8: An interesting story about how a police constable who chased down thieves only to be rewarded with a honeymoon has been reported from Bengaluru.
Venkatesh K E, a constable attached to the Bellandur police station was on a night patrol when he heard cries of, ' thief, thief.' He chased down a group of three single handedly for nearly 4 kilometres and nabbed one of them.
The incident took place near the Big Bazaar on Sarjapur Road at around 2.45 on Friday. The thieves had snatched a mobile phone from a person and were heading towards Koramangala. During the filmy styled chase, the constable knocked down one person, but ended up tripping and injuring himself.
That however did not deter him and he continued to chase the remaining thieves. He finally managed to pin down one of them who tried to escape on a scooter.
The accused was later identified as Arun Dayal (20), a resident of a slum in Koramangala and was subsequently taken to Bellandur police station. While his seniors were proud of him, they decided to give him a surprise. He was awarded Rs 10,000 and gifted a three-night-day honeymoon trip to Munnar in Kerala. His seniors decided to give him this gift when they learnt that Venkatesh was all set to get married in November.
