Bangalore shame: Nagaland couple assaulted
According to a report published in Deccan Herald, the incident took place around 3:30 pm near Hesaraghatta on the outskirts of Bangalore.
When the couple's car got punctured, then four men approached them.
The husband was quoted as saying that one of the accused man abused them by saying, "‘you are not from India, what the hell are you doing here? Why are you driving here?'
"They called us NRIs. Then, they started pushing me. It was drizzling and my wife was holding an umbrella as we replaced the tyre. They snatched the umbrella and started hitting me with it. We tried to reason with them, but in vain. They punched me on my chest. When my wife tried to intervene, she was slapped by one, and she started to scream", the victim told Deccan Herald, on the condition of anonymity.
After verbally and physically abusing them, the accused fled away.
Then, the bruised couple, along-with their friend went to Soldevanahalli police station to file a complaint.
But, couple's agony did not end there as they were told by the police to go to a different police station. Finally, an FIR was registered at Doddabelavengala police station.
The victims of racial abuse are reportedly living in Bangalore from last 13 years.
On October 16 this year, the Northeast students were beaten up in a Bangalore locality for not speaking Kannada.
The three locals told them, as quoted by one of the victims Michael, "They said you are eating Karnataka food. You are living in Karnataka. You have to speak in Kannada. Why don't you speak in Kannada. Or else, get lost from this state. They later attacked and I had to defend and thus I received injuries."
