17 stations under Konkan Railways under CCTV Surveillance

Bengaluru, Sept 6: Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu inaugurated IP-based Video Surveillance System for 17 stations and a Central Control room at Madgaon.

The stations that come under the surveillance are Kolad (KOL), Khed (KHED), Mangaon (MNI), Chiplun (CHI), Kankawali (KKW), Kudal (KUDL), Ratnagiri (RN), Sindhudurg (SNDD) and Sawantwadi (SWV) in Ratnagiri region ( 9 stations) & Pernem (PERN), Cancona (CNO), Karmali (KRMI), Karwar (KAWR), Gokarna (GOK), Bhatkal (BTJL), Udupi (UD), and Surathkal (SL) in Karwar region ( 8 stations).

Railway platform

12-16 Fixed Dome Type and Box Type cameras, with Network Video Recorder having a recording capacity of 30 days, have been installed at the entrance, lobby, platform, and the ticket booking counters. The station master's room has a 21" LED monitor that is being used to oversee cleanliness.

9 Railway Protection Force outposts also have 21" LED monitors to oversee safety at these stations. The CCTV control room at Madgaon has 19 42" LED display that show live recordings of the 17 stations. It is also connected to the existing security systems in Madgaon and Thivim via a high speed dedicated PFC network.

The Madgaon Center is manned 24/7.
