Now Karnataka legislators have to mark attendance twice a day

Karnataka assembly on Tuesday adopted recommendations by Joint Rules Committee bringing in several changes to rules of conducting business in the house. The amendment aims at holding disruption-free sessions.
Karnataka Assembly's speaker K B Koliwad had formed a house committee earlier this year to recommend changes to proceedings. The recommendations of the committee was adopted in the assembly through voice votes on Tuesday despite opposition by the BJP.
The recommendations suggest altering time for adjournment motion. It suggests Adjournment motion only after question hour and zero hour in the morning session. The BJP opposed this move calling it an attempt to quell protests over various issues inside the house.
The new house rules also marks morning sessions from 10.30 AM to 2 PM and afternoon sessions from 3 PM to 6 PM. Legislators will now have to mark attendance for both sessions separately. The Joint Rules Committee's recommendation to constitute a Karnataka Legislature Committee on Safeguard of Land, Water and Official Language of the State was not considered by the house. So was another recommendation to form another committee to look into the revenues of the state.
