The farmer alleged that successive governments had failed to address farmers' concern in the state and refused to climb down from the tower even as policemen, journalists, public and even a JD(S) legislator, Nagarajaiah, made several appeals to him. Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy who reached the spot after hearing of the protesting farmer pacified him following which he climbed down from the mobile tower.

Chandru was kept occupied on the phone by policemen and fire and safety personnel even as they tried to convince him to climb down. Incidentally, the state assembly was discussing drought situation in the state and the inconveniences caused to the farmers when Chandru decided to draw attention of the political class to the plight of farmers in the state.
