Aero India 2107: Asia's largest air show begins

The grand event will see a participation of 30 countries, including United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Japan.


The 11th edition of the Aero India air show began at Yelahanka air base in Bengaluru on Tuesday with a focus on 'Make in India' initiative.

The biennial air show and aviation exhibition in said to be the largest air show in Asia and second largest in the world after Paris air show. Around 270 Indian and 279 foreign firms are expected to participate in the event.

HAL's Light Utility Helicopter

The HAL Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) single-engine light helicopter exclusively built for the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force to replace the aging fleet of Cheetah and Chetak helicopters. LUH uses one 1,272 kW HAL/Turbomeca Shakti 1U turboshaft engine and has a maximum cruise speed on 220 km/h.

C-130J Super Hercules

LCA Tejas at Aero India 2017

Sukhoi Su-30MKI at Yelahanka

The Sukhoi Su-30MKI is a twinjet multirole air fighter developed by Russia's Sukhoi and built under licence by India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Air Force. The Su-30MKI is expected to form the backbone of the Indian Air Force's fighter fleet to 2020 and beyond.

The aircraft is tailor-made for Indian specifications and integrates Indian systems and avionics as well as French and Israeli sub-systems.
