Alwar, July 23: Ministry Of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday sought a report from Rajasthan Government over Alwar lynching case.
Some villagers in Ramgarh area of the Alwar district in Rajasthan had allegedly attacked 28-year-old Rakbar Khan, alias Akbar, and another man on Friday night when they were transporting cattle to Haryana.
Khan's companion escaped, while he died allegedly on the way to the hospital. The villagers had accused them of smuggling cows. It has also been reportedly said that the police delayed in taking the victim to the hospital. According to a report in NDTV, the victim was in police custody for three hours 45 minutes before he was taken to a hospital early on Saturday. Three men were arrested on suspicions of being linked to the case. The police said the men will be charged with murder. Condemning the rising incidents of lynching in India, the Supreme Court had on Tuesday asked the government to enact a law to deal such cases. A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra had termed the incidents of lynching "horrendous acts of mobocracy". The incident comes a little more than a year after Pehlu Khan, a dairy farmer from Haryana's Mewat, was lynched by cow vigilantes in Alwar. He was attacked when he was transporting cattle to his village in Haryana as the mob suspected him of smuggling cows.
