Paris, Mar 24: The world seem to be caught in a terror fear with the increasing number of terrorist attacks that seem to spare no country and irrespective of the security measures in place. The latest landmark that was under threat is the famous Eiffel Tower when there was a suspected bomb threat at the premises yesterday.

More than 4000 tourists were evacuated after a suspicious package was recovered by French authorities putting the staff on high alert. Paris police officials confirmed that no bomb was recovered and the landmark was opened to public after a thorough check after two hours.

The 324-meter (1,063-foot) tower is one of the must-visit places in France. Police sources claimed that they received a call from an anonymous caller saying the tower would be blown up at 1700 GMT.

Though there were no untoward incidents, officials are investigating the call. SETE, the company that manages the tower revealed that the package was found in the plaza situated beneath the tower. There was a terror threat to the tower twice last September after French officials heightened security following a terror attack warning by the Al-Qaida's North African affiliate. This also ended up to be fake news after no explosives were found.
