HC: No 'Madras Cafe' (Tamil) without nod from Film Certification Board
New Delhi, Aug 22: In the light of increasing resent against the screening of Madras Cafe, the Madras High Court has directed the film makers not to screen the Tamil version of the film in the city yet, without getting permission from the Film Certification Board.
Meanwhile, the uproar and the outcry regarding the content of the film is adding to the promotion. Drawing viewers' interest, the film is expected to do well in the rest of the country. According to sources, the film deals with the plight of Tamilians in Sri Lanka.
However, there are instances which are similar to the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. Shoojit Sircar says otherwise. "This is not a biopic on him, this is not a story based on him. Yes, you can say that there is a similarity to that incident. There is a similarity in the facial structure (of the actor who plays the said role)."
Madras Cafe stars John Abraham and Nargis Fakiri in the lead roles, while Rashi Khanna is also being screened for the first time in a pivotal role.
