Chennai, Aug 21: Amidst all the controversy the High Court has rejected the petition filed against the release of the film Madras Cafe and said that the film will not release in Tamil Nadu till the film certification board clears it.

The film faces opposition from many pro-Tamil groups who seek a ban on the film for depicting the LTTE in negative light. Though the Hindi version will be released as slated on August 23, the Tamil version is yet to get clearance from the film certification board.

Student outfits in the city continued to protest over the film's release. They submitted a complaint and also sought a ban on the film. The film was shown to select activists of pro-Tamil outfits on Sunday, after they demanded screening of the movie before its release, as they suspected it showed the LTTE in bad light.

The movie is set in the late 80s and early 90s in India and Sri Lanka and traces the political and military histories of the neighbouring countries. It covers the Research and Analysis Wing and Lankan rebel group LTTE's activities through the eye of an agent, played by Abraham, who has also produced the movie.
