Sindhurakshak explosion rattles Parliament
Meanwhile, sources reveal that Antony has briefed Prime MInister Manmohan Singh about the tragedy and has confirmed the death of 18 missing personnel (including officers). He said, "I have apprised the PM of the incident. I'm going to the spot. The Naval Chief is already there. I'm saddened by the incident as many Navy personnel lost their lives."
Navy Chief Admiral D K Joshi will soon be arriving at the Mumbai dockyard to take stock of the situation and determine the extent of the damage and declare whether we have actually lost the 16-year old submarine.
The loss of 18 million dollar worth Sindhurakshak is a big shock for the Navy, especially at a time when the submarine fleets are depleting in the Naval force.
