Paris, July 31: A photographer suspected of having clicked topless photographs of Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, which were published in a French magazine last September, has been charged, sources said. A second photographer is also under judicial probe will be charged soon, sources added.

Laurence Pieu, editor of the Closer magazine in which the photographs were published has already been charged. The pictures were taken when Kate was holidaying with her husband, Prince William, in southern France and were published on September 14.

The latest developments occurred a few months after legal representative of publishing house Mondadori France, Ernesto Mauri, along with a photographer and a senior editor of newspaper La Provence were also accused of the same. La Provence published photographs of Kate in a bathing costume a week before Closer while Mondadori France publishes the Closer magazine.

The royal family of Great Britain had hit back at the publishers and sought a stop on further publication of pictures. A Paris judge said on September 18 that the topless photographs must not be published again while the British tabloids raised a storm over the incident.

La Provence management had, however, denied charges that its photographer had taken such photograph of the duchess and said it was being unjustly accused.

Kate and William became proud parents of a baby son on July 22.
