Release Madani or we'll kill leaders: Extremists

Bangalore, July 30: The BJP office here received a typed threat letter from extremists, demanding the immediate release of Abdul Nassar Madani, the Kerala-based PDP leader who is a prime suspect in the 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blasts.

The letter reads: "We urge the immediate release of our leader Abdul Nasser Mahdhani with immediate effect. If you fail to do so by withdrawing all cases registered against him in Bangalore, you will witness the funeral of your leaders. Stop Lotus Channel immediately and ask them to apologise to the islamic society publicly."

The letter threatened to kill various Sangh Parivar leaders and others from BJP, including Hindu Munnani and VHP, if the demands were not met.

The city is under tight surveillance since the murder of JP Tamil Nadu General Secretary V Ramesh on July 19. G K S Selvakumar, the Tamil Nadu BJP Secretary and Nanda Kumar, the district BJP president met with city Police Commissioner A K Vishwanathan and sought protection for front-ranking leaders of these organizations.
