Smart Namo: A mobile phone for Modi fans
New Delhi, July 27: The General Elections of 2014 are setting new rules of campaigning, and Narendra Modi, who has given a new meaning to the social media campaign, is soon going to have a mobile phone named after him.
Smart Namo, an independent body formed by Modi fans, has announced launch of an Android phone dedicated to Narendra Modi.
The official website puts the device as the Modi fans and group members' way of showing their respect to Modi, the 'Ironman' of modern India.
"We are from land of Gujarat and in electronic smartphone business in China. NAMO stands for Narendra Modi and Next Generation Android Mobile Odyssey," says the website.
The Smart Namo phone will cost Rs 16,000 and come pre-loaded with videos as well as apps related to Modi. The phone is expected to be released next month.
News reports say that the person behind this unique brand building is Ammeet Desai. He is a Gujarati businessmen and runs a mobile business in China. He said that the idea for such a phone was born in China.
In communist China, several electronic products like MP3 players and smartphones are sold with branding of the leaders.
