500 wagons of material, 500 men restore rail link to north
After three days of continues work, the Central Railway authorities today succeeded in restoring, one line (down) between Nagpur and Wardha section which was completely washed out due to heavy rains on July 19. The rail link connects south with north India.
The train traffic was disrupted after heavy rains had washed away a minor bridge and ballast under the railway track between Sindi and Tuljapur station on Nagpur-Wardha section. Due this track damage all the train (nearly 100 services) on the route were diverted via Itarsi, Khandwa and Bhusawal.
The Hyderabad-Nizamuddin Dakshin Express was the first train to cross the repaired section arrive at Nagpur and proceed towards Delhi.
With the restoration of Up line later today, all the trains passing through route will run on normal schedule.
The restoration work of the washed out section was supervised by Central Railway General Manager B P Khare along with Divisional Railway Manager, Nagpur division, Brijesh Dixit and other officers. The officials and the engineers camped at the spot.
The railways had sent six special trains with material like boulders, ballast, sand and two Accident Relief coaches to the spot. More than 500 labourers were involved in the restoration work with the help of JCBs and other equipment.
