"I send my heartfelt sympathies to the people of India and hope that the Almighty gives them the strength to bear the loss," said Sharif. He also said,""I am grieved and saddened to learn of the loss of numerous precious lives and displacement of hundreds of pilgrims in the floods in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. Living in a region which has unfortunately become increasingly prone to such natural disasters, the people of Pakistan share the pain and anguish of those who are suffering in this calamity."

Praising Manmohan Singh's leadership, he said that he was sure that the country would overcome this testing time with "utmost strength and fortitude". Conveying his deepest regrets on behalf of Pakistan and the people there, he reached out to the families of the dead and those who lost their lives while saving others.
