IPL: oneindia readers divided on Srinivasan's resignation
The demand for his resignation came after last week's arrest of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan for alleged betting during IPL matches. After Gurunath was arrested in Mumbai, there was talk about Srinivasan's resignation from the post of BCCI president and whether the BCCI would scrap the Chennai franchise.
Ousting a BCCI president requires a minimum support of three-fourth members in a special general body meeting. This means at least 24 of the 31-member board must be in favour of his ouster.
It seems like Srinivasan has the numbers on his side, at least in the cricket board. But the peoples reaction has been more for his resignation on moral grounds.
According to the opinion poll of oneindia.in (English news section), an overwhelming 71 percent said, Srinivasan should go. This tide against the BCCI chief is growing as the muck comes out on the betting scandal.
Even the Kannada section readers were in favour of him quitting from the board.
