Bangalore, April 22: BJP has decided to target BS Yeddyurappa and none other than its national president Rajnath Singh was at the forefront of the attack. The attack was endorsed by L K Advani. The party has also released advertisements, clearly aimed at Yeddyrappa.

Predictably, Yeddyurappa hit back at the BJP with charges hurled against Advani.

Yesterday, Rajnath Singh had said at an election meeting in north Karnataka that no one is greater than the party, which never felt the loss of Yeddyurappa. The party does not entertain corrupt workers, he said.

The party, however, found an honest Chief Minister in Jagadish Shettar, and he would continue to provide good administration if the BJP returned to power, Singh said.

However, Yeddyurappa does not take such remarks lightly. Today, his party's senior leader V Dhanjay Kumar alleged that party leaders like Advani and other extracted crores of rupees from Yeddyurappa.

Kumar's allegations drew sharp reaction from BJP leaders.

Rajnath Singh, who was in Bellary today, said the allegations were baseless and even cognisance should not be taken note of them.

Chief Minister Shettar said there is no truth or substance in the charge. Describing Advani as a "political saint", state BJP Persident Prahlad Joshi said attempts to tarnish the reputation would not work.

Meanwhile, the state BJP has urged the Election Commission to take action against Kumar alleging violation of the election code by making false allegations.
