Fidayeen Attack in J&K:Pak taking advantage of Guru's death?
Protests continued in the state, demanding the return of Guru's body which was buried inside the premises of Tihar jail. Curfew was on in several parts of the state since the hanging of Guru. Now, the latest fidayeen attack (suicide attack) on CRPF camp in Bemina area of Srinagar on Wednesday makes the situation further volatile.
Five CRPF jawans were killed in the attack. Speculations were rife as who carried out the attack? Is it home grown militant groups of Jammu and Kashmir or Pakistan sponsored terrorists, who sneaked into Indian territory to carry out the outrageous attack?
Initially Kashmiri militant group Hizbul Mujahideen was thought to be behind the attack. But, our security agencies rejected the idea of involvement of Hizbul in the attack.
Briefing reporters about the fidyayeen attack in Srinagar, Union Home Secretary RK Singh said, "The attack seems to be handiwork of militants who came from across the border in Pakistan."
"Prima facie evidence suggests that these militants were from across the border. They were probably from Pakistan," Singh said.
"We had inputs of four militants having entered; now two are dead. All our units are alert," he added.
"The two militants who managed to escape after the attack are also said to be from Pakistan. A probe into the matter has been ordered and the security forces have been asked to take all preventive measures," he said.
The government agencies clearly point their fingers at Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the attack.
The attack left several jawans and civilians injured. Two militants were killed by the Indian security men during the attack.
Curfew has been once again imposed in Srinagar, after the death of a youth, who was allegedly killed by security forces on Wednesday.
