Srinagar, March 14: At a time when Indian security men are facing crisis in the wake of fidayeen attack (suicide attack) on CRPF camp in Bemina area of Srinagar on Wednesday, our political class has once again failed them.

The jawans feel betrayed by lack of concern shown to them by politicians.

CRPF men expressed anger and disappointment when political leaders did not turn up to pay their respect to five slain jawans at a ceremony in Srinagar on Thursday, March 14.

Yesterday's terror attack on CRPF men left five jawans killed and several injured.

"Where is the Chief Minister? When a civilian dies everyone attends," questioned a jawan, as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah did not attend the function.

"We were unarmed. We cannot fight terrorists with lathis," the jawan said.

"They deploy us without arms, our men died yesterday only because of that," alleged another jawan. The security personnel said they felt "orphaned" by neglect shown towards them by political leaders.

Today Congress-led UPA government was cornered by the opposition at Parliament.

Leader of the opposition and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj demanded a statement on the attack from home minister Sushilkumar Shinde.

"Does our duty get over after paying homage to the victims every time a terror attack takes place? They come here and behead our soldier; they dress up as sportsmen and carry out suicide attacks. How long will this continue?" she asked.

Moreover, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister is facing flak from the opposition for the terror attack.

However, after facing large-scale criticism, Omar Abdullah paid tribute to the martyrs at the airport, before the bodies were flown to their respective states for funeral.

The five deceased jawans were ASI Avadh Bihari from UP, Constables Om Prakash Singh from MP, Satish from Karnataka, Perumal from TN and Subjash Barla from Jharkhand.
