Hyderabad: Now Owaisi wants to hold talks with Taliban
Speaking in the Parliament, Owaisi said, "We have invested crore of rupees in the development of Afghanistan. If we do not engage with them (Taliban), then we will be allowing our neighbouring country (Pakistan) to enter over there and use that territory for anti-national activities."
"Gulf countries have opened an Embassy and are talking to them," added the MIM supremo. Owaisi tried to attract government's attention to the fact that Taliban is likely to be back to power in Afghanistan once Americans and NATO forces leave the country.
Hence, Owaisi urged Indian government to open a diplomatic channel with the Taliban before the ouster of the Americans in 2014.
The Owaisis may face another round of criticism following their proposal of holding talks with Talibans. Earlier Asaduddin's younger brother and MIM MLA Akbaruddin had faced the wrath over his hate speech. He was arrested and later was released on bail.
