Read Bandh Advisory: IT companies warn employees, stay alert

Bangalore, Feb 19: The call for the nation-wide Bharat Bandh has been confirmed after talks between government officials and trade union members failed. The 48-hour-long strike, beginning from Wednesday, Feb 20 is going to cripple the nation.

India's IT hub, Bangalore is bracing up for the strike. Several IT companies have issued advisories to their employees fearing untoward incidents during the Bandh time. Bangalore office of Cisco too has issued an advisory. Below is the given advisory

  • Cisco offices in the country will be open.
  • Cisco transport will not be operational in any of the offices in the country.
  • Employees required to commute to office for any work related activities are advised to use their own vehicle.
  • Employees are advised to be alert while moving within their cities and be cautious about local situation.
  • In the event of security situation not being safe, employees may avail the option to work from home.
  • Employees travelling on business should be aware that airport taxis might not be available for commuting to/fro from the airport and have to make alternate arrangements.
  • BUs with employees working on critical projects are advised to activate their BCP plans.

The bandh has been called by 11 trade union bodies.

Some of the trade unions, who are participating in the strike, are - Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) and many others.

The Bandh has been called against privatisation, outsourcing, violation of labour laws, and price rise.
