Vishwaroopam Row: Why Kamal wants CM Jaya to break her vow
Now, actor-director Kamal Haasan wants Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa to watch his film. However, in a recent press meet explaining the reason behind banning the film in the state, Jayalalithaa said that she had stopped watching films for long.
Now, the 58-year-old actor wants Chief Minister to break her vow and watch his film. Jayalalithaa herself was a popular Tamil film actress and acted in several hit films, before joining politics.
"I like her to see the film. Now she is a Chief Minister. But she is (also) a peer and senior. I very much like her to watch my film and hope she breaks her vow of not watching movies," a smiling Haasan told reporters.
Earlier, a group of Muslim organisations protested against the film. They said the film showcases Muslims in a bad light. Tamil Nadu government banned the film.
"Thank you India. Thank You Tamil Nadu. See to it that artistes like me don't get into trouble again," said a hugely-relieved actor, after the film was released.
The ban on the film has been lifted after Kamal reached an agreement with the Muslim organisations.
It was Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu who stepped in, paving the way for its release. Actor agreed to mute scenes that Muslim outfits found offensive in the government brokered meeting.
"Vishwaroopam" was already released in neighbouring states of Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The film is doing well. Even the Hindi version of the film "Vishwaroop" is doing good business across North India.
