How BSY loyalists cheat to save Shettar govt from falling
Sources inform that Yeddyurappa's Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) was banking on three well-known BJP leaders who are currently part of Shettar's cabinet to resign from the party and weaken the government.
But, luck once again cheated Yeddyurappa, and he was forced to put a lid on all his plans of toppling the BJP government by reducing it into minority.
Moreover, another shocker came to Yeddyurappa after opposition parties Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) announced that they won't move for no-confidence motion against BJP government.
Congress Legislature Party leader, Siddaramaiah and the JD(S) H.D. Revanna said they would not move a no-confidence motion, nor back the other, if one of them did.
Moreover, Shettar got the backing from Independent, Goolihatti Sekhar, who said that if push came to shove, the eight independents would bail the government out.
Speaking to media on Monday, Feb 4, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah said technically the government has majority, though, the ground reality was different.
Currently, the ruling BJP government in Karnataka is facing crisis like situation. It enjoys a thin majority in the Assembly, wherein the strength has been reduced to 211.
The BJP has 108 members, including the Speaker and an independent and a nominated member. The Congress has 71 members, Janata Dal (S) - 26 and Independents - 6.
